Hello welcome to my "MAGREREGGAE CHRONICLES" as I was walking along the Breathtaking View of Muelle Bay I stumble upon this boutique called "Make Waves" the name itself gave me a sense of chill that this is not your typical shop which you can find in Muelle. I visited the shop and interviewed him about the upcoming 2011 Reggae Festival here in Puerto Galera. As a pioneer of Puerto Galera reggae scene lets admit it he knows more than what Ka Pangke knows about the event itself lol.
"our 1st reggae fest happens 1984 at muelle bay, puerto galera in front of make waves shop, and we use a garbage truck as our stage. playing with us is 2 german tourist on guitar and harmonica feat local artist, pino, kido, odi, leo, mando, allan, and me. that was the start of the reggae scene not only in galera but the whole country. jammin and knock on heavens door were the first reggae music that we play and most of our listeners were european tourist, our first serious bar gig happens also that summer of 84 at BAHAY PILIPINO in the heart of the town, run by a german and african nationals." - Jing Masilungan (owner of make waves)
